A family business built on passion and precision

Shepparton Sewing Centre opened its doors in October 1991 on Wyndham Street with one clear mission — exceptional customer service in sewing machine sales, servicing, and repairs. That same year, we became proud partners with Swiss precision brand Bernina, a relationship that continues to thrive today.

Since then, we’ve grown steadily, expanded our brands, moved into a purpose-built store on Benalla Road, and built a reputation as one of Victoria’s premier sewing destinations.

Our Journey

1991

Founded on Wyndham Street

Opened with a focus on sewing machine sales and repairs. Became a Bernina authorised dealer.

1993

Moved to Maude Street

Acquired Val Hill Sewing Centre. Added Pfaff and Brother to our brand lineup.

1995

Welcomed Janome

Acquired Naughtons Sewing Centre and expanded our range with Janome machines.

2003

Brad joins as apprentice technician

Brad began his sewing machine technician apprenticeship, building the technical foundation for the future.

2004

Fabric store opens on High Street

Launched a dedicated fabric store offering dress and patchwork fabrics, patterns, threads, and haberdashery.

2006

Moved to 36 Benalla Road

Opened our purpose-built home with a large retail floor, onsite parking, and a dedicated classroom.

2015

Bernina Q24 long arm service launched

Added an in-store quilting service using the Bernina Q24 Long Arm machine.

2022

Brad becomes owner

After 31 years, founders Steve and Shelly retired. Brad took ownership, adding Baby Lock (2022) and Husqvarna Viking (2024).

Brad — technician turned owner

Brad joined Shepparton Sewing Centre in 2003 as an apprentice technician, bringing a love of precision and problem-solving to every machine he touched. When founders Steve and Shelly retired in 2022, it was a natural step for Brad to carry the business forward.
